You will arrive in Macau during the most pleasant season of the year, with mild temperatures and comfortable weather conditions that are perfect for exploring the city.

Our hotel in Macau is ideally situated directly opposite the UNU Macau campus, offering unprecedented convenience for attending classes. You may even have a direct view of the classroom facilities from your room.

The hotel features a beautifully designed rooftop garden that serves as an excellent venue for group discussions, informal meetings, and social interactions with your fellow participants.

We recommend taking advantage of your Sunday arrival to begin immersing yourself in Macau's rich cultural heritage, which spans centuries of Portuguese and Chinese influences. The university campus enjoys a prime location, with an impressive array of historical landmarks, cultural sites, and architectural wonders all within comfortable walking distance, making it easy to explore during your free time.

The Guia Lighthouse and Chapel, situated atop Guia Hill, marks the highest point on the Macau Peninsula. Built in 1865, it holds the distinction of being the first modern lighthouse on the Chinese coast and continues to serve as an important maritime navigational aid. The historic structure beautifully combines Western and Chinese architectural elements, embodying Macau's unique cultural fusion.

The AI fundamentals and UN system introduction classes will be held in our beautiful heritage building. The building housing the United Nations University Institute in Macau (UNU Macau) has a notable history linked to its previous owner, the renowned Portuguese architect José Manuel de Sousa Mendes, also known as Mendes.

The building not only serves as a center for research and education but also stands as a testament to Macau’s architectural heritage. It reflects the city’s unique blend of cultural influences and modern development.
In the first part of the training program aims to equip participants with fundamental knowledge of AI, gaining a solid understanding of its core principles and applications as well as the potential of AI for social good - i.e., how it can address global challenges and contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Participants will learn how to leverage AI as a research tool, to understand and identify the ethical considerations surrounding AI, and recognize the importance of youth perspectives in AI design.

There are tons of small local restaurants around our campus, use your lunch time to explore!
